Favorite Scene
My favorite scene in The Son of Neptune, is when Frank finds out he is the son of Mars. Frank, and the rest of Camp Jupiter were playing the war games. Frank, Hazel, and Percy had won the game and Gwen, part of the Fifth cohort, had ‘died’ but because Death was captured, she didn’t die. Mars come to the camp to tell why. He says Frank is his son, and Frank and Percy go on a quest. They take Hazel, too. This is in the middle of the rising action. At the war games, they are in the Field of Mars. It’s in the upper part of the ‘G’ looking camp, above the river. It’s kind of dark, because of how late it is, and all the campers are drenched because of Percy.
In this scene, I learned Frank is the son of Mars. And Gwen can’t die. Also, Mars is a lot nicer as Mars, not Ares. This is my favorite scene because it has a lot of humor and shocking moments. Like how Mars says that Gaea is rising, and he sort of remembers Percy. This is also the part when they get the quest. It’s kind of scary to have the god of War come to tell you about a quest, but that just makes the excitement rise.

Conflict: Problem-Slution
Central: Gaea is awaking, and Frank, Percy, and Hazel need to save Death.
External: no one will die because Death is captured, so it’s pointless to kill monsters.
Internal: Percy has memory loss.
Problem 1: Percy lost his memory
Solution: Percy drinks gorgon's blood from the right side in a bet, so he starts remembering stuff.
Problem 2: Hazel keeps having blackouts about her past life.
Solution: The problem never really goes away, but Ella, the harpy, tells her they should slow down, and not happen more often.
Problem 3: Frank’s grandmother is about to die.
Solution: Mars comes to meet her and she tells Frank about his gift, and in return, he sets the house on fire.
